Clinton Morrison has backed Harry Winks to leave Tottenham in January and insists the midfielder’s style of play is intelligent and pleasing on the eye.
The 25-year-old has not had much joy in the Tottenham side so far this season and has been limited to six appearances in all competitions.
He currently sees himself way down the pecking order behind the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and youngster Oliver Skipp, who has cemented a spot in Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield on his return from a loan spell at Norwich City.
Winks started in Spurs’ Europa Conference League defeat to Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday evening and later revealed his lack of consistent game time was ‘tough’.
Sky Sports pundit and Tottenham supporter Morrison believe Winks should look to secure a move away from the club in January to benefit his career, and claims he still has a lot to offer as a midfielder.
He told Sky Sports: “100 per cent he needs a move because you know what, you look at it, [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg always plays in there, [Oliver] Skipp, the young Skipp went on loan to Norwich, he has come back and he has done ever so well, now he is a regular. Them two are playing in holding midfield.
“He is a lovely footballer to watch on the eye, he gets the ball, he wants to make things happen. He is a good footballer, he is really good, he is an intelligent footballer.”
He later added: “I think, come January, if Harry Winks is not playing enough football, I think he’ll be on the move.”
"Why don't you just go into training and train properly every single day and force your way back into the team that's actually paying your wages?"@morrisonclinton and Kris Boyd argue whether Harry Winks should work hard to get back in the team or leave the club pic.twitter.com/V2RKqbSWDh

Spurs Web Opinion
Winks’ career at Spurs has completely disintegrated and he looks a shadow of the player that flourished under Mauricio Pochettino a few years ago. He hasn’t progressed after many expected him to, and ultimately a move away looks like the best thing for both player and club.
