Jamie O’Hara has claimed that he would take Tottenham Hotspur finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League this season if it meant that the club won a trophy.
Tottenham currently sit in 6th place in the Premier League table with 15 points after nine games.
From the evidence of the team’s performances so far this season, the Lilywhites look like they might be facing an uphill battle to qualify for Europe.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men did seal progression into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 win over Burnley on Wednesday.
O’Hara has now suggested that League Cup is more important for Spurs than the Premier League, insisting that he would accept a poor league finish if it meant that the club broke their trophy drought.
Watch what the former Tottenham midfielder said on talkSPORT:
“I would take bottom half in the league & we win the Carabao Cup.“
“I think that’s a great season.”

The pundit then went on to suggest that he would even accept finishing below Norwich if it meant winning silverware.
“I would take Norwich finishing above us – as long as we stay up – & winning the Carabao Cup!”
“You know what I’d love? Playing West Ham in the cup final & we win.”

Spurs Web Opinion
I think most Spurs fans would accept another seventh-place finish if it meant that we broke our trophy drought. However, a bottom-half finish will simply not be acceptable at Tottenham right now given the progress we have made in the last decade and a half.
The league finish is also a much better indicator of where a team is at and so a bottom half finish would mean that the club had regressed quite significantly, and that the Paratici project would likely have to be binned if that was the case.
