Nuno Espirito Santo has insisted that a lot can change between now and January when asked about the potential exits of Harry Winks and Dele Alli.
While Alli started Tottenham’s first six Premier League games of the season under Nuno, the midfielder has not played a single minute in the league since he was hauled off at half time during the North London derby defeat at the Emirates last month.
Winks has started just one Premier League game so far this season and has had to be content with minutes in the Europa Conference League.
Both Winks and Alli were in the team who were overturned 1-0 by Vitesse Arnhem last week and neither were part of the matchday squad for Tottenham’s trip to Turf Moor for the Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday evening.
Reports indicate that Spurs will listen to offers for Alli when the transfer window opens in January while Winks has himself admitted that he will have a conversation about his future with Nuno when the time is right.
When asked if he would understand if both players wanted to leave in January, Nuno said (via Football.London): “We are talking about January, so far away, so far away, we have to focus on what we do now.
“With all of the players, all of the personal situations of the players I address them personally.
“I speak, when I have to speak privately say the things, listen to things the players have to say. This is how we deal.
“Not here, you will never see me in a press conference addressing issues with players. I deal with it personally.”

The fact that Alli and Winks were both left out of the matchday squad against Burnley despite Nuno being allowed nine substitutes, suggests that both players are a far way down the pecking order. It is difficult to see how they can force themselves back into the team before January.
