Heracles defender Giacomo Quagliata has expressed excitement that Tottenham were one of the European clubs in attendance for Italy Under-21’s fixture against Romania.
Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb reported earlier this week that Spurs, alongside Atletico Madrid and AC Milan, planned to have scouts present for the friendly on Wednesday evening.
The report did not mention who was specifically being watched by the clubs, but it was speculated that young forward Lorenzo Lucca would be one of the players being monitored.
Despite going 2-0 down, Italy managed to fight back to secure a 4-2 win at the Stadio Benito Stripe in Frosinone.
Quagliata, who started and notched an assist in the friendly, could not hide his excitement that Conte and Fabio Paratici’s side had scouts in attendance for his nation’s match and claims he didn’t know it was the case until after the game.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Quaglita said: “These are emotions that are not easy to explain in words. I was already happy for the call-up, now I hope I played my best for the chance given to me by coach Nicolato.
“I’m very confident, also because right after the match I had good feelings. I really hope there will be a next time; I will always give my best to make this dream come true.
“When we went out on the pitch, I didn’t know about the presence of representatives of the teams mentioned, but after learning about it at the end of the match, it was doubly satisfying.”

Italy have always had an abundance of young talent and with the club’s new Italian contingent, it comes as little surprise that this is becoming the approach.
Quagliata is only 21-years-old and has plenty of room left to grow, but he will be one to keep an eye on going forward.
