Ramon Vega has claimed that the relationship between the Tottenham players and fans has grown distant and urged the current crop to engage more with the supporters.
The Tottenham players have been accused of a lack of effort and desire during their 2-1 defeat to NS Mura in the Europa Conference League.
Needless to say, the performance and the result did not go down with Spurs fans on social media, many of whom have called for a significant portion of the squad to be sold following the performance on Thursday.
The Mura result came off the back of Spurs fans booing the side at half-time against Leeds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday before Antonio Conte’s men turned the result around in the second half.
Since the loss to Mura, we have already seen Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg deactivate his Twitter account.
Vega believes that is not the way to go and that the Spurs players need to engage more regularly with the fans on social media and at the stadium.
Here’s what the former Tottenham defender tweeted:
Fans not only by social media but in person to feel that passion and belonging again and respect the fans and to each other. It feels soulless and without meaning these days. Just money.I miss that fan players relationship of a club specially at @SpursOfficial call me old fashion

Spurs Web Opinion
The relationship between players and fans has deteriorated over recent years but that is a two-way streak. It is not just the players who are responsible for it. Spurs fans have become a lot more entitled than they used to be, partly because of how much the fan base has grown in recent years.
Even just going back around 10 to 12 years ago, I remember players like Tainio, Zokora and Pavluchenco becoming cult heroes among the fan base even though they were not particularly good.
These days, we even see players like Dier and Davies, who are miles better than the players Spurs used to have and have been tremendous servants for the club, being subject to abuse on social media.
A huge proportion of fans have lost touch with what it means to support a team through thick and thin. They only seem to be in it for the self-satisfaction they get when the side wins. I certainly do not blame the players for not interacting with fans on social media. I would do the same if I was a professional footballer.
