Football London journalist, Alasdair Gold, believes Tottenham could return to competitive action in time for the Liverpool match on December 19, as long as there are no further COVID-19 outbreaks.
Spurs suffered an outbreak of COVID-19 around Hotspur Way this week, with at least eight players and five members of staff testing positive.
As a result, the first-team section of the training ground was shut down and fixtures against Rennes and Brighton were postponed.
Gold revealed that the players who tested positive will have to undergo a ten-day period of isolation, starting from either when the symptoms first occur or when their positive result came in.
He also reported that it is not yet known when those who tested negative will be able to return to Hotspur Way ahead of a busy festive fixture list.
However, he did predict the Leicester game could be postponed and Spurs could return against Liverpool on December 19.
Gold said (Football London): “They aren’t training and The Lodge is shut down so it’s not like they can isolate at the hotel and use a private pitch to do individual training there.
“I think that also makes it difficult to play the Leicester game, which could fall within the 10 days for some of those with Covid at Tottenham, and if not still means fitness issues with a lack of training.
“It’s only my opinion, but if there are no further outbreaks across the squad then the Liverpool match seems to be one that would be more feasible to return for.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
To be honest, I think even the Liverpool game might be tough to play. I could see Spurs returning for the Carabao Cup tie against West Ham United on December 23.
