The Daily Mail have revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Antonio Rudiger could be set for a £400,000-per-week deal when he leaves Chelsea as a free agent next summer.
Rudiger has been an important player for Thomas Tuchel since the German coach took over from Frank Lampard around a year ago.
However, the central defender’s future is up in the air as he is now approaching the final six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Gianluca Di Marzio stated at the start of last month that Tottenham were one of four clubs in talks with the German international over a summer move while Dean Jones said on The Done Deal Show (starting at 36:02) that one of the biggest offers on the table for the former Roma man was from Spurs.
The Mail have now revealed that Europe’s top clubs are queuing up to sign Rudiger, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich and Juventus thought to be among the teams competing for his signature.
It is said that the 28-year-old, who currently earns around £100,000-per-week at Chelsea, is expected to quadruple his pay packet if he leaves as a free agent.
It is explained that Tuchel’s men have only offered the centre-back a new deal worth in the region of £140,000-per-week and that they are ‘unlikely’ to match the offers that other clubs have made to the defender.
Spurs Web Opinion
I did not think we stood a chance of snapping up Rudiger anyway, given that the biggest clubs in Europe are all likely to be after his signature.
This latest revelation about the 28-year-old wanting £400,000-per-week pretty much diminishes any small chance Spurs had of snapping up the German.
