Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have revealed Antonio Conte made it clear as soon as he arrived at Tottenham Hotspur that he wants the club to prioritise a move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Conte has insisted that he has not spoken to the club about potential January transfer targets and he remains focused on improving the players at his disposal for the time being.
Despite this, the rumour mill has gone into hyperdrive since the Italian’s arrival, with a whole host of Serie A stars being linked with a move to North London.
Perhaps no other name has been mentioned as frequently over the last month and a half as Vlahovic, with reports indicating the Lilywhites are expected to spend big on the striker in January.
However, a deal for the Serbian international will not be easy to pull off for Spurs, with the likes of Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester City also thought to be interested in the striker.
Gazzetta have now revealed that Conte has certainly been clear about his admiration of Vlahovic to the Spurs hierarchy. It is claimed that the 52-year-old ‘has put Dusan’s name at the top of the list since the first minutes of his arrival in London’.
The report goes on to add that any club interested in the 21-year-old would have to shell out €8m-€10m (£6.8m-£8.5m) as a commission to Vlahovic’s agent on top of a mammoth transfer fee to land the centre-forward.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is evident why Conte would Vlahovic as the Serbian appears to be the next breakout superstar in world football.
However, the Italian will likely be realistic enough to understand that Spurs might not be able to compete financially with the likes of City.
So, I suspect Paratici and Conte will have some alternatives in mind if a deal for the Fiorentina man proves too difficult to pull off.
