Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is hopeful Liverpool’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur can go ahead on Sunday.
Tottenham’s last three Premier League games against Burnley, Brighton and Leicester have been called off.
While the Burnley game was postponed due to heavy snowfall at Turf Moor, Tottenham’s trip to Brighton did not go ahead due to an outbreak of Covid-19 at the North London club.
Leicester then also had an outbreak of the virus at their club and were not able to field a fair team for their clash against Spurs on Thursday.
In total, nine Premier League matches have been called off this month due to the spread of the virus but the Premier League have insisted that they have no plans to suspend the competition for now.
Liverpool have confirmed that they have three positive cases at the club ahead of their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, Klopp has insisted that he still wants the game to go ahead, and also added that he does not see any point in suspending the league.
The Reds boss told BBC Sport: “I don’t see the massive benefit of it [stopping the Premier League] because we come back [and] it is still the same.
“If the virus will be gone then I am the first that stops and goes home and waits until it is gone. But that is probably not the case, so where’s the real benefit of it?
“We hope we can play and Tottenham can play on Sunday.”

Klopp’s point is a good one as the problem is not going to go away if the Premier League is suspended for a month. There are still going to be positive cases at various clubs once the league restarts.
However, at a certain point, the Premier League has to make a decision if an increasing number of matches are called off over the coming days and weeks.
