Cameron Carter-Vickers, who is on loan at Celtic, has admitted that discussions regarding his future will only be held at the end of the season.
Carter-Vickers has not made a senior appearance for Tottenham since 2017 but he has impressed during his loan spells in the Championship over the last few years.
The centre-back has been a standout performer at Celtic this season after having established himself as a regular in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven.
The Spurs academy graduate helped the Bhoys to a League Cup win on Sunday, putting in another solid display at the back in their 2-1 win over Hibernian in the final.
According to reports, Celtic would have to pay £10m to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis.
The 23-year-old stated last month that he would be open to staying at Celtic Park beyond the end of this season.
Carter-Vickers has now once again spoken about his future and, while the centre-back admitted that he is enjoying his time in Scotland, he said that the decision over his future is not entirely up to him.
When asked about his plans for the future, the defender told talkSPORT (12:09 pm, December 20, 2021): “I am enjoying playing out there. It is all going well.
“I think it is a little bit too early to say. It is not purely down to me as well.
“Obviously, discussions are to be had at the end of the season.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Celtic could well decide to take up the option to sign Carter-Vickers permanently if he keeps performing to the level he has for the past few months.
However, if the Scottish club decide not to activate the option, I am sure that several Championship clubs would be willing to pay decent money for the USA international.
At 23 years of age, Carter-Vickers needs to settle down at a club and it would be in the interest of all parties if he leaves Spurs next summer.
