Antonio Conte has claimed that Tottenham’s current progress is not enough and wants to continue improving his current crop of players going forward.
The 52-year-old has changed Tottenham’s fortunes over a month into his tenure, leading the club to six games unbeaten in the Premier League so far.
Conte hasn’t had it all his way though, with his plans being disrupted due to a Covid outbreak in his squad, with games against Brighton, Leicester and Rennes being called off, as well as Tottenham’s trip to Burnley due to heavy snow.
There has been a clear improvement around the team, with a solid structure being laid down to allow previously struggling players to gain newfound confidence.
However, while Conte has explained that he is happy with the progress his side has made, he does not intend to sit still and get complacent with what he has achieved so far.
In a press conference, he said (via Football.London): “I think that my work is going ahead and I always say that I have found a great ability of my players and it’s good.
“This is good because when you have players who want to improve and go into the tactical ideas, it’s easier and I think from the start until now all the team has improved in many aspects.
“I know it’s not enough. It’s not enough to be competitive to win something and a place in the Champions League but we had a point we started to work. Now we have to continue this way. We know our strengths. We also know our weaknesses. We have to improve our weaknesses and to become stronger.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The improvement that Conte has brought to Spurs has been clear and it is obvious that he does not want to stop there. He has brought in a clear system and ideas that he wants the players to follow, and at the moment he is getting that out of them.
