Antonio Conte has now elaborated on the recent injuries to Oliver Skipp and Eric Dier, which will keep both out of Tottenham’s Premier League match against Brighton tomorrow night (Football London).
The pair were also notably missing from the Spurs squad that beat Brighton 3-1 at the weekend in the FA Cup fourth round, although Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero returned from injuries of their own.
Conte has now revealed that Oliver Skipp should be back ‘very soon’, claiming that although the medical department has put a two-week time scale on the injury, he hopes to have him back in seven to ten days.
Meanwhile, the Italian commented that Eric Dier has a ‘little muscular problem’ but it is not serious. Unfortunately, it has come in the same place the defender has experienced injuries in the past, which is why the medical team have advised against him playing.
On Skipp, he said (Football London): “He had a problem then we tried to take care with him then we need to have a bit of patience with him. He is another player that I have seen great improvement in him. It’s a pity that he is unavailable.
“I hope to have him back very soon. The medical department told me two weeks but I hope to have him available in one week/10 days maximum and for this reason I push the medical department because we’re talking about an important player for Tottenham Hotspur.”
On Dier, he added: “He had the same problems in the past before to be able to play the last game against Chelsea.
“He had a little muscular problem and it’s not serious but it’s in the same place as that problem. The doctor said not to use him and that’s a pity because you know he’s an important player.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
If Tottenham can get both of these guys back in the next seven to ten days, that would be a huge boost amidst a busy fixture schedule with all the rearranged games. Missing Southampton and Wolves would not be a disaster if they can return for some of the huge matches.
