Football.London correspondent Alasdair Gold has admitted he would be ‘shocked’ if Celtic do not push to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal from Tottenham.
Carter-Vickers joined the Hoops on a season-long loan last summer and has impressed throughout his stint in Scotland so far.
The 24-year-old has featured prevalently under manager Ange Postecoglou making 35 appearances all competitions while netting three goals (Transfermarkt).
His displays for Celtic have put him firmly in contention to secure a permanent move, with Glasgow World claiming the club has an option to buy for around £6 million.
But Carter-Vickers has since attracted attention from back in the Premier League with on the map Wolves, Leicester and Watford all showing an interest in the USA international (SBI Soccer).
However, despite the interest away from Celtic, Gold believes the Scottish outfit would be ‘mad’ not to pursue a transfer this summer.
He said on his YouTube channel: “Cameron Carter-Vickers, his terrific loan continues. He volleyed home his third of the season against St. Mirren.
“It has been such a successful move. I’d be shocked if Celtic don’t buy him at the end of his loan. They’ve got an option to buy, they’d be mad if they don’t because he’s been smashing it there.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Carter-Vickers has been enjoying his best loan spell of his career at Celtic and Gold would be right in saying they would be crazy not to pursue a permanent deal.
The price is pretty modest for them too and Spurs will want to push that considering he is approaching the end of his contract with the club.
