Fiorentina are eyeing up a move to sign on-loan Tottenham goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, according to CalcioMercato.
The 26-year-old joined Spurs on loan from Atalanta last summer with the club holding an option to buy for around £13 million (BBC Sport).
But a permanent deal is looking unlikely at present, with Gollini turning out on just 10 occasions in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt) having been stuck firmly behind Hugo Lloris in the pecking order.
And although the Italian stopper has barely featured this term, CalcioMercato report that Fiorentina are keen on signing him this summer.
The report hints Gollini would consider a move to La Viola, having gone through the club’s youth system over a decade ago before being picked up by Manchester United.
Fiorentina will likely have to fend off cross-league interest though, with Lazio said to have recently held talks with the goalkeeper ahead of a potential transfer (Goal).
Spurs Web opinion
Gollini just doesn’t have a future at Spurs judging how his loan spell has gone and the fact there is interest back in Italy points towards a return there.
As a goalkeeper, he just hasn’t been convincing at all so unless he has been impressing in training, it would be a big surprise if Spurs were to exercise the option to buy clause.
