Manchester United have appointed the same architects who designed Tottenham’s new stadium to begin the process of redeveloping Old Trafford, the club has confirmed.
The Telegraph reported last month that the Red Devils had been exploring three options to improve the state of their iconic home, which included bulldozing and rebuilding the stadium, completing a full revamp or extending the south stand.
And the wheels appear to be getting set in motion, with United confirming they have appointed architects Populous and consultant firm Legends International to get the revamp underway.
The two companies were heavily involved in the construction of the 63,000-seater Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which Spurs officially moved into in April 2019.
The club’s previous home of White Hart Lane was partly demolished during its unbeaten 2016-17 campaign, before being torn down completely to make way for the centrepiece of the project, which was worth £1bn in its entirety.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham have set the bar when it comes to building and redeveloping a stadium, and the success of the current arena has indicated that.
United have seen what an amazing job the two firms managed to achieve for Spurs, so for them, it was a no-brainer to employ them for their project regarding Old Trafford.
