Tottenham’s campaign is still finely poised with just a few games remaining and a spot in next season’s Champions League still up for grabs.
Antonio Conte’s side have been in strong form in recent weeks, picking up four wins in their last five outings which have propelled them back into contention.
However, Spurs suffered a blunt 1-0 defeat at home to Brighton last time out, in which they failed to record a single shot on target in the encounter.
And while they still hold fourth-place narrowly ahead of bitter rivals Arsenal, games and points are quickly starting to run out as we head into the business end of the season.
With six games of Tottenham’s season remaining, here is a prediction of how Conte’s men will get on in each fixture ahead of the run-in.
Brentford (A) – Prediction: 1-1
Conte will not want to let Spurs perform the way they did against Brighton and will be demanding an instant response against Brentford. However, their next opponent in the Bees are in good form and can be tricky on their day, which could point towards a stalemate in west London.
Leicester (H) – Prediction: 3-1
Both sides usually produce matches full of goals and that should be no different in Tottenham’s final match in April. Fortunately for Spurs, it falls between Leicester’s Europa Conference League semi-final ties against Roma, so they could end up facing a fatigued or rotated Foxes side.
Liverpool (A) – Prediction: 2-1
One of Tottenham’s typically less favoured fixtures on the calendar comes with both teams desperately fighting for points. The match does come after Liverpool’s second leg trip to Villarreal, but Anfield has never been a happy hunting ground for Spurs and it could be a task too much for them again against title-chasing opposition.
Arsenal (H) – Prediction: 2-1
It’s the big one, a six-pointer. Spurs boast a strong home record against Arsenal in recent seasons and they will want to maintain that with both sides still chasing a top four place. Conte will no doubt get the players in the right mindset for this and they should be up for the fight, especially remembering how it was delayed to this date.
Burnley (H) – Prediction: 2-0
Tottenham will be seeking some revenge in their penultimate game of the campaign having lost out to Burnley in poor fashion in February. While we won’t know if the Clarets will still fighting for their league status by this point, Spurs should have more than enough quality to earn a good result in spite of the stubbornness of their opposition.
Norwich (A) – Prediction: 1-3
Norwich could have suffered relegation by the time Tottenham roll into town for the season finale. They could be playing with more freedom at that point which may prove to be a banana skin for Spurs, but Conte’s men could still have something to play for by that point, so all things point towards an away win.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs do have a somewhat favourable fixture run as opposed to their fellow top four chasers, but there are some hazards along the way.
Liverpool is the obvious one, but Brentford can also be challenging given it is an away fixture, while the Arsenal fixture is crucial in that it can sway momentum in either direction.
However, they have shown under Conte that they can be a tricky side to play against, which is why you can back them to have a strong end to the season and secure a top four place.
