Fabrizio Romano has claimed Tottenham are not currently pursuing a deal to sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona.
Depay has had a mixed campaign for the Blaugrana this term despite being in electric form for the first half of the season.
The Dutch international has struggled for consistency since Xavi assumed control of the Barcelona dugout, which has now caused his future to be up in the air after less than a year at the Camp Nou.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims a number of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Depay, 28, this summer with Tottenham at the front of the queue.
Transfer guru Romano has since been asked to comment on the rumours linking Depay to north London, to which he admitted Antonio Conte’s side are not looking at a deal for the forward at present.
However, the Italian added it is an ‘open situation’ with Barcelona needing to balance the books by selling a handful of players this summer.
Romano told Gazetta Dello FIVE: “We had some rumours about Tottenham, but I’m told that at the moment it’s not an option they are exploring.
“So let’s see what happens with Depay, I think it’s a really open situation, but Barcelona will need to sell some players.”
Depay joined Barcelona on a free transfer last summer from Lyon after his contract with the French side came to a conclusion. The Dutchman has since scored 12 goals in 33 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).

Right now it is likely that Spurs will be looking at other areas of the squad to strengthen given the attack is not much of a priority as out stands.
Depay would be a strong candidate to come in a bolster the forward options even more which is always good, but the club will probably look towards allocating the funds towards the defence this summer.
