Antonio Conte believes the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium can ‘become a fortress’ and has urged Spurs fans to keep up their unwavering support of the club.
Spurs are continuing their pursuit of a top four spot in the Premier League with just one game of the campaign remaining and leapfrogged rivals Arsenal after a 1-0 win over Burnley.
Sunday’s win saw Spurs build on their midweek triumph over the Gunners in the North London Derby, where Conte’s men were once again backed by a strong supporting crowd.
And the 52-year-old Italian feels the club’s 62,000-seater arena needs to be taken advantage of by the Spurs faithful to create an environment that is daunting for visiting teams to play in.
Conte said (Football.London): “For Tottenham the fans are vital. We have an amazing stadium and to create an amazing atmosphere is so important.
“If the fans back you in a strong way it’s normal to give much more and increase your positivity. I think our fans have to play every game an important role.
“This stadium has to become a fortress for Tottenham I think. It is amazing and has the characteristics to become a fortress.”
Tottenham’s win over Burnley was the club’s final home game of the season and Conte will be hoping the fans continue their support when they travel to relegated Norwich on the last day of the season.
Meanwhile, fellow Champions League chasers Arsenal face a tough away trip to Newcastle on Monday, followed by a home match against Everton.

The stadium is built in such a way that it encourages fans to create a deafening atmosphere, and that was put into use during the week against Arsenal.
There are no home games left this season, unfortunately, but these words of encouragement should be kept in mind for the new campaign as having that 12th man can go a long way to helping the team.
