The Sun journalist Tom Barclay has revealed that Preston North End are interested in signing Dane Scarlett on loan next season.
Scarlett has progressed impressively over the last couple of years, having made ten senior appearances for the Lilywhites (Transfermakrt).
The 18-year-old was included in Tottenham’s matchday squads regularly in the second half of the campaign and even earned praise from Antonio Conte, with the Italian labelling the teenager ‘a really important prospect’ for the club (Football.London).
Scarlett’s worth to the North London club was underlined this week when Spurs announced he had signed a new contract that will keep him in N17 until 2026.
Speaking to Spurs TV, the youngster admitted that he is proud to sign a new deal and is excited to see what the future holds.
Barclay has now taken to social media to suggest that Tottenham will ‘probably’ loan Scarlett out next season in order to fast forward his development.
The journalist claimed that Preston are one of several Championship clubs to have shown interest in signing the striker on loan.
You'd think the next step in Scarlett's progression would probably be a loan out next season. If Spurs do decide to do that, there will be plenty of takers. I'm told Preston amongst those in the Championship who have shown interest

One would expect Spurs to sign another striker to serve as Kane’s backup this summer. Scarlett has already demonstrated that he is too good for the Under-23s, and so a loan move to the Championship might be ideal for the youngster.
However, Conte and his coaching staff might feel that the 18-year-old’s development will be best served by continuing to train with the first team for another six months to a year before making a loan move.
