Tottenham could still target the signing of a creative midfielder this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Spurs have been one of the busier Premier League clubs this summer, making four new additions with the start of the new season edging closer.
Antonio Conte recently welcomed the arrival of Brazilian forward Richarlison, who sealed a £60 million switch to North London (The Guardian) after helping Everton preserve their top-flight status.
Yves Bissouma was captured from Brighton, while Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster joined on free transfers much earlier in the window.
The Evening Standard now claim Tottenham could still potentially look towards adding a playmaker for Conte, although it comes after the club played down speculation they could move in for Christian Eriksen and Jesse Lingard.
Spurs are set to miss out on Eriksen, who spent a productive seven years in North London, with the 30-year-old on the verge of sealing a free transfer to Manchester United (Fabrizio Romano) after his contract with Brentford came to an end.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph recently claimed Lingard is also under the club’s consideration after recently departing United as a free agent.
The England international is thought to have admirers at Spurs, who view him as a potential option with the bonus of adding to the club’s homegrown quota.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham could definitely do with bringing in a playmaker this summer as that has been an area they have struggled with since Eriksen’s departure.
They do have plenty of central midfield options currently but none of them really have that creative spark that was needed in some matches last season.
