Fabrizio Romano has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur could possibly make some late moves during the current transfer window.
In stark contrast to previous windows, where Daniel Levy has tended to push deals until the final week or two in order to get the best value, Tottenham have been extremely proactive this summer.
The North London club have already secured the signings of four players in the form of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.
Clement Lenglet is expected to complete his move to Spurs after flying to London for his medical on Tuesday (Sport) while the Lilywhites are also said to be confident of completing the signing of Djed Spence from Middlesbrough this week (Evening Standard).
It also emerged recently Spurs could make two more additions this summer, with the club said to be on the lookout for a creative midfielder (Evening Standard) and another centre-back (GiveMeSport).
Romano believes that Tottenham could pull off a surprise or two late in the window, given how Fabio Paratici tends to operate.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I would keep the situation open for Tottenham because I know how Paratici works. He’s always ready to make a surprising deal at the end of the market.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Assuming Lenglet and Spence are signed this week, Spurs would have granted Conte his wish of making all the key signings before the club’s pre-season tour to Asia.
Another centre-back and an attacking midfielder are not priority positions to address, which is why I think the club might push those deals until the final week of the window in order to get the best value.
If Lo Celso and Ndombele leave as expected, I think Spurs will sign a creative midfielder and I continue to have a strong suspicion that Paratici would look to raid Juventus for Weston McKennie.
