Cesar Azpilicueta has claimed that Chelsea are prepared for the challenge Tottenham will pose at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The London derby is the biggest fixture of the Premier League season so far and is being billed as a potential battle of the ‘best of the rest’ behind Manchester City and Liverpool.
While Chelsea finished in third place last season, the Blues have had a transitional summer both in terms of their playing squad and the boardroom.
In stark contrast, Tottenham appear to be one of the most settled clubs in the Premier League, with the club having done their business early in the transfer window.
Antonio Conte has now got a full pre-season with the side and he will be hoping to set the record straight when he returns to his former club after Spurs suffered three successive losses to the Blues in January.
Azpilicueta, who worked under the Italian at Chelsea, stated he and his teammates know what to expect from Spurs, admitting that they will be wary of the firepower the Lilywhites possess in the forward areas.
The Chelsea captain said on Sky Sports Football podcast: “When you play against Tottenham, you want to win.
“We know it is going to be tough. They have got all their transfers done early before pre-season. We know Antonio very well, how he prepares. We have to be ready.
“They [Kane, Kulusevski, Son] are quality players, the numbers are there, they score goals and create chances. They work well together, they are organised, they are trying to exploit the strengths of their team.”

The game is going to be tight and probably going to be won by the odd goal. While there is the danger of the sides cancelling each other out since they play the same formation, there will be too much attacking quality on the pitch for the game to end goalless.
