According to reports, Bryan Gil was left extremely disappointed after Tottenham blocked the winger’s loan move to Valencia on transfer deadline day.
Gil was heavily linked with a loan move to Valencia all summer, with reports even suggesting last week that the winger is ‘closer than ever’ to sealing a return to the Mestalla (Mundo Deportivo 23/08/22 – as relayed by SportWitness).
However, the move appeared to be collapse at the last moment, with Spanish journalist Domingo Ortiz stating on deadline day that Antonio Conte’s men blocked the winger’s switch to the La Liga club since they had not been able to secure a replacement.
The Times journalist Tom Allnutt subsequently revealed Gennaro Gattuso’s side were unhappy with Tottenham’s late U-turn as the North London club had previously told Los Che that the 21-year-old would be allowed to leave.
Gil took to social media on Wednesday to post a cryptic message that suggested that he was not happy with Tottenham’s refusal to let him leave. The winger’s message on Instagram stories (01/09/22) read: “Sometimes an old photo makes us value the moments where we were happiest and we didn’t realise.”
Spanish journalist Kike Mateu told El Chiringuito Gil is ‘broken’ after finding out he would be staying at Tottenham until at least January.

Tottenham’s refusal to send Gil out on loan has pretty much ended the winger’s hopes of making it into Spain’s squad for the World Cup. So, it is only natural that he would be disappointed.
However, it was always going to be difficult for Spurs to find a replacement for the winger as the North London club were likely exploring a loan move rather than a permanent one.
The last thing the Lilywhties needed was to sign a winger permanently and struggle to shift him off their wage bill when he becomes surplus to requirements 12 months later.
