Tottenham Hotspur continued their fine form in the Premier League this evening, recording yet another home win, this time against Everton.
Let’s take a look at five things we learned from the game:
Keeping pace – Spurs are now level on points with Man City and one behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League. Whatever happens, Tottenham will stay third in the table after this weekend. Conte has instilled a sense of consistency with results this season and it feels like the performances are starting to improve a little too.
Hojbjerg… – What else can we say? People often threw the claim around that Pierre needed to add more goals and assists to his game, well this season he is one of Tottenham’s biggest contributors! Yet another well-taken goal today, not to overshadow a solid performance too. If you don’t rate him now, you never will.
Right-wing-back solved – I just can’t see past Matt Doherty as the first choice now. He is just a natural RWB compared to Emerson Royal who is solid but limited going forward. Once Doherty gets his match sharpness up, I think Spurs are going to become so much more potent on the right.
Injury problems – Richarlison became the latest Spurs attacker to pick up an injury today, leaving the pitch holding his knee. With Kulusevski still out and Moura not fully fit yet, it could be a 3-5-2 against Man United.
Harry Kane’s best start – Nine goals in his first ten games. When have we ever seen Harry Kane start a season like this? If not for Haaland, Sky Sports would be discussing him every day and linking him with every team under the sun. Conte is finding a nice balance between leaving him up top in certain games and having him drop back in others. And long may it continue!
