Tottenham Hotspur maintained their unbeaten home run this evening against Everton with a 2-0 win.
Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:
Hugo Lloris – 6 – The two times Everton had a real look at goal, they fired way over the bar so Hugo had little to do beyond the odd claim from a cross.
Ivan Perisic – 7 – The Croatian was back in the starting XI this evening and put in a decent performance. Plenty of good crosses into the box and stuck to his task defensively. Nothing too flashy but was always quality on the ball.
Ben Davies – 8 – May have seemed like a quiet game from Ben but he had his side on lock. McNeil struggled to get into the game at all and that was down to Davies’ no-nonsese defending. Also always looks after the ball in possession.
Eric Dier – 8.5 – Fantastic performance once again. Dier knocked the ball around for fun today when Spurs went ahead and made the Everton attack work so hard. Was also near perfect in the air and in winning his duels.
Cristian Romero – 8 – Seems to be back at top form now. He’s like a sniffer dog waiting for the slightest opportunity to win the ball back and rarely gets it wrong when he pounces. Was also so important to the build up today.
Matt Doherty – 7.5 – Just looks the perfect option at right-wing-back at the moment. Solid defensively today, tidy in those tight triangles on the right, and came up with the odd surge in the second half. Playing himself back into form.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 8.5 – This man is at the heart of everything Spurs do at the moment. Kept things ticking over today and constantly keeps the Everton back line shifting and thinking. He makes that extra half a yard or second of time for Spurs on the attack.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 8.5 – At this point, who still doesn’t rate Hojbjerg? He was all over the pitch today, winning the ball back, keeping the ball moving, and adding to the attack once Spurs moved to a 3-5-2. Very good finish for his goal after an average first touch too!
Richarlison – 6 – Not his day against his old club. Beyond a couple of late runs at the back post, he struggled to influence the game from wide right. Went off injured holding his knee in the second half.
Harry Kane – 7 – One of those games where Harry tried to stay high rather than dropping deep, which was always the right plan. And when he started to get sniffs in the second 45, he looked dangerous. Won the pen, scored it, and went close a couple of other times too. Hold up play was class at times.
Heung-min Son – 7 – Looked at his most dangerous when he was able to turn in the pocket and run. At times, he played LWB as Perisic tucked inside and Sonny was very impressive attacking 1v1. Still not his best but a good performance.
Substitutes:
Yves Bissouma – 7 – The game changed when he came on and Spurs changed shape. Yves sat back and let the other midfielders push up. Did his job perfectly.
Davinson Sanchez – N/A
Lucas Moura – N/A
Djed Spence – N/A
Oliver Skipp – N/A
