Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison has undergone a medical at the club today after being injured in the Premier League game against Everton at the weekend, and the situation is better than first feared.
Richarlison arrived at Tottenham from Everton in the summer and has immediately endeared himself to the Spurs faithful with his hard-working, passionate displays on the pitch.
The 25-year-old is yet to score in the Premier League, but has three assists to his name in the competition, as well as two goals in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).
Spurs cruised to a 2-0 win against Richarlison’s former club on Saturday evening, but the victory was somewhat overshadowed by the fact the Brazilian had to leave the field early in the second half due to an injury.
The striker was crying after the game, through fear that he would now miss the World Cup where he is expected to be a starter for the Brazil national team (ESPN Brazil). Richarlison was also spotted leaving the stadium on crutches (Football.London).
It was believed that the calf injury Richarlison sustained was ‘nothing serious’ after initial assessments (Bruno Andrade) but the club were awaiting the results of a medical before confirming anything.
That medical took place on Monday, and Richarlison himself took to Twitter to reveal that the injury will not keep him out of the World Cup.
Richarlison said: “Guys, thank God it was just a big scare!! Two weeks and I’ll be back! Thank you for the messages and affection.”
Pessoal, graças a Deus foi só um grande susto!! Duas semanas e estarei de volta! Obg pelas mensagens e pelo carinho

It’s such a relief to know that Richarlison will be okay after this little scare. For Spurs, it’s important as the squad needs that strength in depth leading up to the World Cup with fixtures coming thick and fast.
Most importantly though, it means that Richarlison’s dream of leading the line for his country at the World Cup could and should still be achieved.
