Images have emerged from behind the scenes of the England v Iran game at the World Cup which appear to suggest Harry Kane may be nursing a slight injury from the match, but it’s believed to not be anything too serious at this stage.
England started their World Cup campaign in style out in Qatar, trouncing Iran 6-2. It was a dominant and comprehensive display from the Three Lions, with every player putting in a brilliant performance.
Goals from Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish, and two from Bukayo Saka sealed the win for England. Harry Kane may not have found the back of the net, but he did lay on two assists, for Sterling and Rashford.
Kane was eventually replaced after 76 minutes, making way for in-form Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson. The switch appeared to be a tactical one, with Gareth Southgate taking the opportunity to rest his star man with the game won.
The 29-year-old did take a hit in the first half, spending a short period of time on the ground and off the pitch before returning to the action.
In light of this, images shared by The Athletic’s David Ornstein of Kane with some strapping on his ankle might worry some fans. He was also reportedly walking with a slight limp.

You’d hope the strapping is purely a precautionary measure and that Kane will be fighting fit for the next game. He did go down for a bit in the first half but managed to carry on well into the second half, and I can’t imagine Kane or the England management would allow that to happen if there was any risk of him aggravating an injury.
