Estadio Deportivo have revealed that Cadiz could enter the race to sign Bryan Gil on loan from Tottenham in January.
Multiple reports over recent weeks have reported on the possibility of Gil returning to Valencia after his successful spell at the club during the second half of last season.
The print edition of AS (01/12/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) reported at the start of this month that the La Liga club are plotting to re-sign the winger on loan in January, with Gennaro Gattuso said to be keen on adding attacking reinforcements to his squad.
However, Antonio Conte has allegedly made it clear to the Spurs hierarchy that the 21-year-old can only be loaned out after a replacement arrives through the door (Super Deporte).
If Estadio Deportivo‘s latest update is to be believed, Valencia could face competition from Cadiz for Gil’s signature in January.
The report explains that the Tottenham man was the one that got away for Cadiz, who were the biggest club near Barbate where the winger was born, but it was Sevilla who moved quickly to bring him into their academy.
It is said that the Andalusian club, who sit 19th in the table, could look to sign the youngster on loan from Spurs, with fans ‘dreaming’ of his return.
However, Estadio Deportivo add that Cadiz are unlikely to win the race for Gil as the Spain international’s wages could be a problem for Sergio Gonzalez’s men.
Spurs Web Opinion
There will likely be no shortage of interest from La Liga clubs in Gil, especially if he is available on loan. I suspect the 21-year-old will want to return to the familiar surroundings of the Mestalla, having established a relationship with the players and some of the staff at the club last season.
