Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb have claimed Juventus are looking to make a move for reported Tottenham Hotspur target Alexis Mac Allister, and they could use another Spurs target, Weston McKennie, to make the move happen.
Mac Allister played a starring role as Argentina triumphed in the 2022 World Cup, with the creative midfielder registering a goal and an assist as his nation went all the way in Qatar (Transfermarkt).
The 23-year-old caught the attention of many of the top clubs in Europe with his displays in the World Cup, with L’Interista claiming Tottenham, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan were all interested in securing the services of the Brighton star.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been tracking Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie for a while now, and it is widely believed the North London club are considering a move for the USA international in the January transfer window (La Repubblica and Ben Jacobs).
However, Spurs now face competition from Liverpool for the signature of McKennie (Daily Mail). But, according to the latest from CalcioMercatoWeb, both Spurs and Liverpool could be left empty-handed in the race for McKennie.
That’s because if Juventus get their way, McKennie will end up at Brighton and Hove Albion, as the Turin club ramp up their efforts to snatch Mac Allister away from the Premier League side.
The report claims Brighton are willing to let Mac Allister go, but only if they receive an offer of €30 million (£26 million) in cash for the player.
It remains to be seen whether Brighton would be interested in the McKennie part-exchange deal, which is believed to be put forward for a move in the summer of 2023.
Spurs Web Opinion
Alexis Mac Allister had a phenomenal World Cup with Argentina and is rightly being courted by many top clubs now. He would certainly offer everything Spurs are looking for in a playmaker, and hopefully we can edge Juventus in this race by offering Brighton exactly what they want. I think Mac Allister would be a fantastic signing for Spurs and we should definitely look to make it happen.
