GiveMeSport have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford next summer.
Multiple publications have claimed over recent months that Tottenham are planning to replace Hugo Lloris at the end of the season, with Antonio Conte and Fabio Partici already alleged to have held conversations regarding the Frenchman’s succession (Evening Standard).
Among the names mooted as a potential replacement for Lloris, Pickford’s has appeared most often, with 90 min even reporting back in the summer that Spurs enquired about the Everton number one while negotiating with the Toffees for Richarlison.
Tottenham’s interest in the England star was also backed up by Graeme Bailey, who told TEAMtalk last month that the 28-year-old is part of Spurs’ three-man goalkeeper shortlist.
GiveMeSport have now reported that Everton fear Pickford could be the next big name to leave Goodison Park following Richarlison’s departure in the summer.
The report adds that the goalkeeper would not want to put his England spot at risk and could thus be open to a move if Frank Lampard’s men do not show signs of improvement at the end of the season.
However, GiveMeSport add that it is not just Spurs who have their eyes on Pickford, with Man Utd and Chelsea also being named as clubs to ‘look out for’ next summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs, Man Utd and Chelsea could all be on the lookout for a number one next season. So, there could be a goalkeeper merry-go-round in the Premier League.
Although Pickford will have just one year left on his contract next summer (Transfermarkt), he is unlikely to come cheap, particularly if the Toffees can get a bidding war going for the England number one.
