Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign former Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Noni Madueke according to the latest from Voetbal International.

Madueke started his career in the Crystal Palace youth system before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur’s development setup. He made just one appearance for Spurs’ under-18 side (Transfermarkt) before taking the bold move of venturing over to the Netherlands to join PSV.

The youngster’s career has gone from strength to strength since, and he is now a first-team regular for the Dutch side and is regarded as one of their top talents. Madueke has 20 goals and 14 assists in 79 appearances for PSV so far (Transfermarkt).

An impressive campaign last year saw Madueke bag nine goals and six assists for PSV, including two goals in the Champions League (Transfermarkt). Injuries have got in the way this term for the 20-year-old, though he still has two goals to his name in eight appearances (Transfermarkt).

The report claims Chelsea are keen to bolster their attacking ranks with a move for the youngster, though it is suggested that PSV are far less likely to sell Madueke now that Cody Gakpo has already left for Liverpool this month.

Voetbal add that, with a contract running through to 2025 for Madueke (Transfermarkt), it would take a mammoth effort for Chelsea to force PSV’s hands. It remains to be seen whether the free-spending London club are willing to go big for Madueke and bring him back to England.

Spurs Web Opinion

Noni Madueke is yet another huge talent that we let slip through our fingers and it’s so frustrating. Obviously, hindsight is a fine thing, but surely there are people at the club who can see how good these youngsters are and who can impress upon the management staff to keep hold of them at the time. I really hope Chelsea don’t sign Madueke, but they certainly have the financial power to do so.
