The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham made a verbal offer of £12m for Leandro Trossard this week, which has been turned down by Brighton.
Trossard has fallen out with Roberto de Zerbi, with the Brighton boss revealing last week that he has chosen not to include the Belgian in his plans for the time being after he walked out of training sessions without an explanation (Daily Mail).

The player’s representatives subsequently hit back at De Zerbi’s assertions and called on the Seagulls to let their client leave the club during this transfer window (Telegraph).
Football Insider reported on Sunday that Spurs are set to launch a ‘big money’ offer for Trossard, with the 28-year-old said to be keen on joining Antonio Conte’s side.
The report added that the Lilywhites want to push through a deal for the former Genk man quickly as the player is also on Chelsea’s radar.
However, The Athletic have now claimed that Spurs have only submitted one verbal offer of £12m until now for Trossard.
It is asserted that Brighton rejected the offer as their valuation of the winger is ‘far higher’. The report adds that the North London club have not followed up on their informal interest in the player since.

It appears like Trossard is in no mood to apologise to De Zerbi, which likely means that Brighton have little choice but to cash in on him this month.
One can understand why Tottenham are looking to take advantage of the situation and land the Belgian for a cheap fee. Spurs might feel that their hand would be strengthened, the closer we get to the end of the transfer window.
