Amidst reports linking Championship sensation Alex Scott with a move to Tottenham, Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown has revealed that the midfielder has been offered a new contract by the club.

Spurs were first linked with a move for Scott last summer (Football Insider) after the teenager impressed when he broke into Bristol’s first team during the second half of last season.

The 19-year-old has built on the impressive start he has made to his senior career, having been one of the Robins’ most consistent performers so far this campaign, with the midfielder’s displays thought to have caught the attention of several top-flight clubs.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs reported two weeks ago that Spurs were one of six Premier League clubs who were eyeing a move for Scott, alongside Bournemouth, Wolves, Leicester, Leeds and Brighton.

However, The Telegraph’s John Percy delivered a blow to the aforementioned clubs’ hopes of signing the versatile youngster by revealing last week that Bristol will only let him leave for a fee of £25m this transfer window.

Lansdown has now insisted that the Championship club have no intention of selling the England Under-20 international this month.

The Bristol owner told BBC Radio Guernsey about Scott: “He’s attracting attention as you’d expect but he’s signed for Bristol City for another two and a half years too.

“We’re keen to extend that further and he’s got a contract offer on the table, but we know there’ll be people interested in Alex. We’re not looking to sell him so he’s a Bristol City player and that’s the end of the story at the moment.”

Having heard from several Premier League clubs, Scott’s representatives will likely advise the youngster not to sign a new contract unless it has a release clause.

However, even if the teenager does not put to paper on a new deal, Bristol are under no pressure to sell him this month, given that his current contract at Ashton Gate Stadium runs until 2025.
