The Daily Mail have revealed that Sporting Lisbon may be willing to let Pedro Porro join Tottenham even if the North London club do not meet the right-back’s release clause.
Tottenham’s negotiations with Sporting for Porro have been dragged out since the start of this month, leaving some Spurs fans extremely frustrated.
Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that the Portuguese club are continuing to demand that Spurs meet the Spaniard’s £40m release clause. However, he added that Spurs are not willing to give up on their pursuit of Porro despite their previous offer being turned down and were set for a new round of talks soon.
If The Mail’s latest update is to be believed, there could be some light at the end of the tunnel for Tottenham, with Sporting now said to be open to relaxing their demands.
The report states that Ruben Amorim’s man could consider selling Porro if the Lilywhites offer £30m plus bonuses, while also adding that Sporting are weighing up an offer for Heerenveen right-back Milan van Ewijk as a potential replacement for the 23-year-old.
Spurs Web Opinion
I always felt these negotiations will drag on till the final few days of the window, with the question being who blinks first between Spurs and Sporting. I remain relatively confident that Pedro Porro will be a Tottenham player by the end of the window, partly because the club have seemingly put all their eggs in one basket, without holding talks for any alternatives.
