Amid reports that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Everton’s Anthony Gordon once more, journalist Michael Bridge has claimed there is no truth to those rumours.

Gordon has been something of a shining light in an Everton side that has struggled for the last couple of years now. The 21-year-old has amassed 78 appearances for the Toffees, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists (Transfermarkt) along the way.

Tottenham were apparently interested in signing the youngster over the summer (Football.London) along with Chelsea and Newcastle United (Daily Express) but the player stayed put. However, speculation over his future is rife once again during the January transfer window.

Journalists Matt Law and Luke Edwards recently claimed Newcastle United were on the verge of signing Gordon, while The Mail on Sunday (22/1; page 109) suggested Spurs were cooling their interest in the player as the Magpies prepared a bid.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted earlier today to report Gordon had missed training with Everton and suggested the player is keen on a move to Newcastle.

However, there have been reports that the player is in London (The Bobble), which could imply potential developments with either Tottenham or Chelsea.

Now though, Bridge has seemingly put those rumours to bed with his latest tweet, which claims Spurs are not looking to make a move for Gordon at this time.

On the matter, Bridge said: “Am told there is no truth in any renewed Tottenham interest in Anthony Gordon.”

I really hope there isn’t any truth to this. We’ve already signed a winger, and we have far bigger problems to solve before we sign another. We need to get the Pedro Porro deal over the line, then look at a centre-back and/or a creative midfielder. I also think there are better options out there for when we do want to add more attackers to our squad anyway.
