Harry Kane has taken to Instagram (via talkSPORT) to celebrate becoming Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top goalscorer, and has revealed what he considers to be his most underrated goal for the club.
The 29-year-old scored the only goal of the game as Tottenham secured all three points against Manchester City on Sunday evening at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Kane’s 19th goal of the season (Transfermarkt) was crucial in the here and now, as Spurs look to keep pace with the top four.
It was a goal steeped in significance for Kane’s career, too. The England captain now has 200 goals in the Premier League and joins Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer as the only players to reach that milestone in the list of the league’s all-time leading goalscorers.
Kane also surpassed Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266 goals for Spurs, becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer with 267 goals (GOAL). The record had previously stood for over 50 years, but now Kane sits at the top of the Tottenham tree.
Using social media to reflect on his goals for the club, Kane picked out a goal he considers to be his most underrated. The goal in question is a strike against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stages from September 2017.
Early in the game, Kane out-muscled Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, before navigating his way past Nuri Sahin and Omer Toprak and applying a wonderful left-footed finish past Roman Bürki at his near post.
On the goal, Kane said: “Hold up play, driving with the ball and great finish with my left foot. One for the purist.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I am loving seeing Kane celebrating this moment, he absolutely deserves all the praise and recognition he is getting and it’s nice to see some confidence coming out as he looks back at his array of goals for the club.
