La Razon have asserted that Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to use Bryan Gil as a makeweight to snap up Sevilla star Yassine Bounou in the summer transfer window.

AS reported a couple of days ago that Antonio Conte’s men were eyeing Bounou as a potential long-term successor to Hugo Lloris and that the North London club enquired about the availability of the Sevilla number one during the January window.

The publication added that the La Liga club are bracing themselves for ‘important offers’ from the Premier League for the 31-year-old in the summer.

La Razon have also reported on Spurs’ interest in Bounou and they explain that the Lilywhites could send Gil to Sevilla as a part of the deal to sign the goalkeeper.

The report explains that Jorge Sampaoli is ‘delighted’ with the 22-year-old and would welcome the chance to sign him permanently.

The publication adds that Sevilla were open to cashing in on Bounou for €30m (£26.6m) last summer but their asking price is expected to go up significantly on the back of the goalkeeper’s impressive showing for Morocco at the World Cup.

However, La Razon assert that although the experienced shot-stopper has a release clause of €50m (£44.4m), Spurs are ‘confident of achieving a significant reduction’ in the price by including Gil as a part of the operation.

It appears like Gil has made up his mind not to return to Spurs and with Sevilla unlikely to be able to afford Tottenham’s asking price for the winger, Paratici might well be exploring a part-exchange deal for one of their players.

The only issue with signing Bounou is that he would be 32 in the summer, which means he would be a short-term option compared to the likes of Jordan Pickford and David Raya.
