William Gallas has argued that Antonio Conte needs to change his system and get Tottenham playing further up the pitch.
Spurs delivered a predictably lacklustre performance in the first leg of the Champions League round of sixteen clash against AC Milan on Tuesday, failing to create too many clear-cut chances and falling to a deserved 1-0 loss.

It is Tottenham’s fifth loss across all competitions since the campaign’s restart, with question marks now being raised regarding Conte’s set-up and tactics.
Ahead of the clash at the San Siro, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara insisted that the Spurs head coach cannot continue playing with two in midfield with Rodrigo Bentancur out injured, and even suggested that the Italian should leave his role if he does not change his formation (talkSPORT).
Gallas has now remarked that the Lilywhites lack any sort of fluency despite having some good players in their ranks, and asked the Tottenham head coach to shake things up.
The Frenchman told Genting Casino: “I don’t know what is going on with them, to be honest. They have some good players in the squad, but there is no fluency or combinations between them.
“I don’t understand what is happening there. They are playing too deep. They are not playing well. I think they need to change their system and play further up the pitch.”

It is now clear that the system is just not working but what is also evident is that Conte is not the sort of coach to change his tried and tested approach.
It is difficult not to feel at the moment that it will be best for all parties if this project ended sooner rather than later.
