Goal have now suggested that a multi-billion pound takeover of Tottenham Hotspur could scupper Bayern Munich’s chances of snapping up Harry Kane.
Bild reporter Christian Falk told FCB Inside earlier this week that Bayern may have an upper hand over Manchester United in the pursuit of Kane as the Bundesliga giants would be able to offer the striker a guarantee of winning titles, which Erik Ten Hag’s men cannot at this moment.
The journalist further added that Spurs are not willing to offer the 29-year-old ‘a great salary package’, with Bayern sensing an opportunity to swoop for him.
Goal have now explained that while Julian Nagelsmann’s side are keen on signing a number nine in the summer and have identified Kane as their top target, they will not get into a bidding war for the Tottenham man.
This is because the German giants have already spent £129m over the last two transfer windows and are thus unwilling to ‘increase expenditure dramatically’.
Finally, the report also suggests that if the proposed takeover of Tottenham by Iranian-American businessman, Jahm Najafi, goes through, it may put a ‘halt’ to the transfer.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think Spurs fans should be expecting any takeover to happen quickly as Levy and Lewis will likely want to talk to as many suitors as possible so that they can get a fee close to their valuation.
With respect to Kane, it is worth noting that most of the reports talking up the chances of him joining Bayern are coming from German sources and not British outlets.
Whether he signs a new contract with Tottenham or not, I do not think there is any chance of the 29-year-old leaving the Premier League before he breaks Alan Shearer’s record.
