The Times have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for Son Heung-min’s long-term successor.

In terms of both his numbers and his general performances, Son is currently having his worst season in a Spurs shirt since arriving at the club back in 2015, with the South Korean having found the back of the net just five times in the Premier League so far in 21 matches.

The coaching staff at Tottenham have largely kept faith in the 30-year-old but he was left out of the starting eleven against West Ham on Sunday, only to come on for Richarlison in the 68th minute and find the back of the net minutes later.

Cristian Stellini said in his post-match press conference that the coaching staff at Spurs do not have any concerns over Son’s form or his confidence, insisting that he was only left on the bench due to fatigue (Football.London).

However, if The Times’ latest update is to be believed, Spurs are already scouring the market for Son’s successor who can play on the left side.

Competition for places will only serve to bring the best out of Son. Just because Spurs are after a left-sided forward in the summer, does not mean that Antonio Conte and the coaching staff do not see a future for the South Korean at the club.
