According to Turkish publication Sabah, Fenerbahce are now working on a deal to snap up Lucas Moura on a free transfer in the summer (21/02/23 as relayed by SportWitness).
Moura’s current contract at Tottenham runs out in June (Transfermarkt), with the Brazilian now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs.
Over recent weeks, reports from Brazil have indicated that a return to Sao Paulo is unlikely for the 30-year-old in the summer, with the winger backed to sign for another European club like Sevilla, Porto, and Lazio (Jorge Nicola).
CalcioMercatoWeb.it suggested earlier this month that AC Milan could also be tempted to enter the race for the former Paris Saint-Germain star’s signature.
However, if Sabah’s latest update is to be believed, it is Fenerbahce who are now making progress in a deal to land Moura.
The report states that the Turkish club want to conclude a deal for the Tottenham man ‘immediately’ and have offered the player a three-year contract worth around £43,000 a week.
Spurs Web Opinion
It would be completely understandable if Moura is just looking for the most lucrative financial offer since this will be the last big contract of his career.
However, I believe that the winger could quite easily play for a decent Serie A or La Liga club for a couple of years as long as his injury woes are behind him.
