The Times have revealed that Everton are ‘closing in’ on an agreement with rumoured Tottenham target Jordan Pickford on a new contract.
Multiple publications have claimed over the last couple of months that Pickford’s name is near the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris in the summer (Daily Mail).

The England number one has 16 months left to run on his contract at Goodison Park and The Sun reported last month that the Toffees’ efforts to tie down the goalkeeper to a new deal had hit a roadblock.
The report added that Spurs were keeping a close eye on the situation and were even willing to double his current £100,000 per week salary.
However, The Times’ latest update comes as a blow to Tottenham’s pursuit of Pickford, with the publication claiming Everton are now getting close to reaching an agreement with the goalkeeper.
It is alleged that Sean Dyche’s men have made ‘significant progress’ in their negotiations with the 28-year-old’s representatives and are now confident of finalising an agreement.
Spurs Web Opinion
Although Everton are not quite out of trouble yet, they now look much more likely to stay up than they did a few weeks ago, with Dyche’s arrival seemingly having had the expected impact.
That might have been why Pickford has changed his mind. It would certainly be a blow to Spurs as I have no doubts that the former Sunderland man would have been the Lilywhites’ top target to replace Lloris.
