Former Chelsea captain John Terry has responded to Tottenham fans on Twitter after the Lilywhites’ 2-0 win over the Blues, making fun of the time since Spurs’ last trophy.
Terry was a huge part of one of the most successful eras in Chelsea’s history. During his time with the West London side, he racked up 715 appearances and scored 67 goals (Transfermarkt), as well as captaining the team to various domestic and European honours.
The ex-England centre-back will go down as one of the greatest defenders not only in the club’s history, but in the whole Premier League era. However, he can’t have been very happy with Chelsea’s showing at the weekend.
Coming into the London derby on an incredibly poor run of form, Chelsea saw their impressive record at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium brought to an end. Goals from Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane earned Tottenham a crucial three points in the race for the top four.
Posting on social media before the game, Terry shared a photo from his playing days. After the game, a Spurs fan had choice words for the 42-year-old and Terry couldn’t help but reply to the tweet.
Terry responded with multiple trophy emojis, before writing: “Long time since you see one of these! Another DVD incoming.” He ended the tweet with a clown emoji.
The DVD comment is a reference to a DVD being produced for other Spurs victories over Chelsea in the past.
However, it should be noted that you can find the same product catered for Chelsea fans for their wins over Spurs, too.
Spurs Web Opinion
I know which club I would rather be involved with right now, and it definitely isn’t Chelsea. They look an absolute mess at the moment, and their season is a write-off at this stage.
It’s always nice to see rivals taking the bait and getting upset about a defeat, though.
