Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Antonio Conte is hopeful Destiny Udogie turns out to be the final piece of the jigsaw in his Tottenham team when the left wing-back arrives at the club in the summer.
Spurs paid £20m to snap up Udogie from Udinese last summer on the back of his breakthrough season in the Serie A and loaned the youngster back to Andrea Sottil’s side (Athletic).
While the deal might have seemed like a risky one at the time to some people, it is now looking like a better and better bargain with each game that the 20-year-old plays this season.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed earlier this month that there is plenty of excitement at Tottenham regarding the impact that the left wing-back will have next season.
O’Rourke has now said that with Spurs sorting the right wing-back position with the signing of Porro, the club are hopeful that Udogie will be the answer to their issues on the other flank.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “For Tottenham, they hope they’ve solved the right wing-back position bringing in Pedro Porro and they’ll be hoping that Udogie will be the final piece of the jigsaw for that defence as well, for the left-wing back position next season.
“He will bring extra competition for places, so that can be only good for Spurs in the long term.”

The initial plan might have been for Udogie to perhaps spend two years out on loan and eventually replace Ivan Perisic when the Croat’s contract ends in 2024.
However, at the moment, it looks far more likely that the 20-year-old will arrive at Spurs to compete with Perisic next season, with Sessegnon potentially being offloaded in the summer.
