Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s big FA Cup tie with Sheffield United, assistant manager Cristian Stellini was quizzed about the priorities he and Antonio Conte have set out for this season and beyond at the club.

Stellini is currently acting manager for Tottenham in the absence of head coach Conte, who is continuing his post-surgery recovery in Italy.

The Spurs number two has enjoyed a successful spell as stand-in manager so far, maintaining a 100% record whenever he oversees the first team.

Spurs are currently sitting in fourth place in the Premier League, despite a rather inconsistent season so far.

Recent wins over London rivals West Ham and Chelsea have seen the Lilywhites climb into the Champions League places and put some distance between themselves and Newcastle United in fifth.

Meanwhile, Spurs have the FA Cup to think about, which poses a great opportunity to win a trophy, and they are also still in the Champions League, too.

With all these avenues still open, Stellini was asked what he and Conte believe to be the priority at the club.

Speaking to Football.London he said: “Everything. There is no priority.

“We have to win and we have to try to win every game and then we’ll see what happens in the end. Step by step we look what happens in the next game.

“We decide by taking decisions thinking about the next game but we don’t like to look long-term.

“But to have a good vision in a long period you have to be careful in what happens today, tomorrow and the next game.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Stellini is absolutely right. Obviously finishing in the top four is absolutely crucial this year, as it is every season, but we also have to put a trophy in that cabinet sooner rather than later.

We’re in a really good position to do that if we can beat Sheffield United and the only way to approach any campaign is to just focus on the game in front of you and move on to the next challenge as it comes.
