According to sources at Football Insider, Chelsea have made an approach for former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino as pressure mounts on Graham Potter.
Chelsea find themselves in dire straits at the moment, with just one win in 2023 leaving the Blues sitting in tenth place in the Premier League.
Potter’s side are now 14 points adrift of the top four and any hopes of securing Champions League football for next season appear to be over.

With £323 million spent in the January transfer window and an abundance of talent at his disposal, there is growing discontent around Stamford Bridge and reports suggest Potter will be relieved of his duties (Football.London).
Former Spurs boss Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked from PSG last summer and speculation mounts that he will make a return to the Premier League at some point.
Recent reports claimed Pochettino was interested in taking the West Ham job, should they choose to part ways with David Moyes (Football Insider).
The 50-year-old has also been heavily linked with a return to Spurs, depending on Antonio Conte’s commitment to the club come the summer (Daily Mail).
However, it was thought that Chelsea had already highlighted the Argentine manager as a replacement for Potter earlier this month (90 Min).
And now, with the situation worsening, it sounds like the West London club are stepping up their efforts.
The latest report claims “informal discussions” have taken place between Chelsea and Pochettino, and while the discussions are purely “exploratory” at this stage, it is thought the fact talks are taking place at all is a good indication of the precarious position Potter finds himself in.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am really curious how long Potter can remain in his job, and while I enjoy seeing Chelsea suffer, I do hope they give him the time to turn things around as he is a very talented manager.
As for Pochettino, if Chelsea did come knocking, I would imagine he would be tempted by the project, though I believe he is more interested in the possibility of the Tottenham job becoming available in the summer.
