According to Gary Neville in a recent chat with Sky Sports, Manchester United are the only English club that Harry Kane could join if he chooses to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane has been with Tottenham his entire career and is now the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 268 goals (GOAL).
It’s safe to say his status as a Spurs legend is already secured, but many suspect the player wants and needs more.
The 29-year-old has been urged by some to move on from Spurs and try and win trophies elsewhere before it’s too late (Daily Mail).
With just 16 months left on his current contract, Kane’s future in North London is unclear.
It has been reported that both Manchester United and Bayern Munich are interested in the England captain (Telegraph).
It remains to be seen whether Kane will commit to a new deal at Spurs, or look to move on in search of accolades.
For Neville, Manchester United is the only option for Kane if he is keen to stay in the Premier League. He said: “Harry Kane is going to want to win trophies, I think.
“Whether he sees it as being a case whereby he commits to Tottenham for his last five years and he does what some players – Matt Le Tissier did it at Southampton, other players have done it in the past – where they’ve committed to a club because they love the club and looked after them.
“If there’s never been an opportune moment to leave… but if Harry is going to leave, I think now is the time. He’s a wonderful player, a great professional.
“I think if Harry Kane could leave now and get an exit out of there to a club in Manchester, either City or United, I think he would take that opportunity.
On the likelihood of a move to United, Neville added: “It’s not going to be City because of Haaland. Manchester United are desperate for a centre-forward.
“Tottenham fans will be furious with me trying to get their player to leave, but it just looks to me, at this moment in time, the most likely move.
There are other options, potentially, but Neville doesn’t see them happening: “Chelsea, I can’t see him going there. He’s quite loyal to Tottenham and there’s a big rivalry, so I don’t see that happening. He’s not going to go to Arsenal. So I think Manchester United is the only option in England this summer.
“Bayern Munich could happen, and I think Daniel Levy would be happier if he was sold internationally. We could see that.
“But I think if Harry wants to win trophies, he is going to have to leave Tottenham.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I agree that Manchester United are the only viable option for Kane to stay in the Premier League if he does choose to leave Spurs.
I don’t think he wants to leave the country, and while I hope he does want to stay with us, I think if he does move on, Manchester United will be his destination.
