According to Football Insider sources, Tottenham Hotspur will ask for bids in the region of £100 million for Harry Kane should any interested parties make an approach for the striker in the summer.
Kane is enjoying a fantastic season on a personal level, despite Tottenham struggling for consistency as a team.
He has 20 goals and four assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).
He has also surpassed Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer (GOAL), cementing his status as a club legend.
However, with just 16 months left on his current contract, the rumour mill is picking up speed surrounding Kane’s future in North London.
While Spurs are hopeful that Kane will commit to a new contract (Football Insider), there is growing speculation that both Manchester United and Bayern Munich are keen to sign the 29-year-old (Telegraph).
Whether Kane is happy at Spurs and wants to maintain his legacy at the club remains to be seen, with many suggesting the player should move on and attempt to win a trophy before his career comes to an end (Daily Mail).
Should any clubs come in for the England captain in the summer, Spurs have reportedly made it clear that they will “refuse to entertain offers” that do not meet their current valuation of £100 million, according to the latest from Football Insider.
Apparently, Daniel Levy is thought to be “stubborn about keeping Kane” and will not be flexible on that asking price regardless of Kane’s contract situation.
Spurs Web Opinion
Some may think that price tag is too high for a player who will be 30 years old and entering the final year of his contract, but realistically we cannot replace Kane no matter what the transfer fee is so this has to be factored into the valuation.
Levy probably wants to scare clubs away, but will know that if someone does offer £100 million, it’s a pretty good deal for Spurs, too.
