The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have no immediate plans to sack Antonio Conte but that could change if their pursuit of a top-four spot is jeopardised.

Conte’s days at Tottenham appear to be numbered following the club’s Champions League exit on Wednesday, and some, including Dan Kilpatrick, have asked the club to act swiftly and put the Italian out of his misery (Evening Standard).

However, The Mail state that even though a search for Conte’s successor is now underway, the Spurs hierarchy are not looking to sack their head coach immediately.

It is explained that Daniel Levy does not want to make any decisions that will prove detrimental to the team’s chances of finishing in the top four.

The report adds that the Spurs chairman is prepared to take the matter into his own hands if he feels that the team’s top-four hopes are imploding.

While Conte is expected to take charge of Tottenham’s clash against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, The Mail suggest that a defeat in that game will leave Levy with a decision to make.

I do not think there is any chance of Conte lasting until the end of the season.

In fact, the clash against Forest will likely be his final game in charge if we fail to win.

The players will be aware that this project has run its course and that will almost certainly affect their motivation levels.

So, I believe that we will have a better chance of finishing in the top four if we part ways with the Italian.
