Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, has commented on the future of goalkeeper David Raya this week, claiming the Spaniard will fetch a fee of more than £40m this summer.

However, Frank also added that Raya could think about staying if the Bees manage to qualify for the Champions League places.

While this sounds a little tongue-in-cheek, Brentford are actually only ten points behind Tottenham in fourth with two games in hand on the North Londoners.

Spurs are said to be looking for a long-term Hugo Lloris replacement this summer and Raya has been mentioned as a possible candidate thanks to his skill with the ball at his feet (The Daily Mail).

Frank confirmed earlier this year that Raya had turned down two contract offers from the Bees (Sky Sports), with Relevo reporting the same as the keeper enters the final year of his deal in the summer.

The Brentford boss has now opened up on Raya’s future again, while reiterating that £40m-plus price tag (Sun).

On whether Raya could stay with the Bees, he said: “I think we need to get into the Champions League and then he would consider it.

“I love David as a keeper. I really believe he is one of the best in the Premier League.

“If someone wants to come and buy him, he is very expensive. He will be, for me, at least £40m-plus. No doubt about that.

“No matter what happens, we will be able to at least contact a replacement.

“They don’t always want to come, but we do our best to persuade them. But of course, we are prepared for any scenario.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be keen on David Raya or Robert Sanchez as younger options with Premier League experience, or Jan Oblak as a really ambitious signing for Spurs.
